Product Description:

For sale is a charming, vintage Japanese hand-carved wooden figurine featuring a fox peering out of a rustic log. This piece is a traditional piece of Japanese regional folk art (Mingei), originally handcrafted as a souvenir from Hokkaido.

Known traditionally as a "Fox Luck Bell" (狐運の鈴), this clever design features a movable wooden tail attached to the side of the log. When the figurine is gently shaken, the internal tail mechanism acts as a clapper, producing a soft, rustic wooden clacking sound.

The piece beautifully showcases the natural bark texture on the exterior of the log contrasting with the smoothly carved, expressive face and paws of the fox inside. It makes a wonderful addition to any collection of Japanese folk art, rustic woodland decor, or unique vintage animal figurines.

Condition:
Good vintage condition with beautiful natural patina. The wood bark and carving are intact. The movable tail mechanism functions perfectly. There is a split in the wood at the back that does not detract from the overall display condition.
