An interesting item I think. 1883 cover sent from the Garrison Library on Gibraltar. This was established in 18th century as a resource for British army officers who paid a hefty subscription to allow them to borrow a few books every week. It remained in army hands until 2011 when it was taken over by the local government. It also doubled up as the home of the Gibraltar Courier the second oldest English language newspaper in the world.
