Jacques Constantin and August Charles Perier were two engineering brothers who founded the Compagnie de l’eau, the company responsible for bringing clean water to Paris. They were granted the right to import and install James Watts’ steam engine to pump water from the Seine in late 18th century. Watt later sued them for breaching the terms of their agreement.
