1834 wrapper sent locally in Edinburgh from Hanover Street to Robert Pitcairn, writer to the signet, antiquarian and author of a definitive history of Scottish criminal law. He was also a friend and occasional collaborator of Sir Walter Scott - the two pals lived opposite each other in Edinburgh’s New Town.
